You need some scrunching moose or gel. I use a spray called Brilliant Brunette Starlit Waves. Just scrunch your hair up like it was wet and it should work.

It doesn't work well at all when it is dry. I suggest getting it damp at least. If you don't want to shower in the morning, I would buy a spray bottle, and spritz it, before putting whatever product you use in. (I don't know if you allready have a product you use, but Curls Up! in the yellow bottle is inexpensive and works great.)
