Solution to dry hair, anyone?

Here is the regimen that I use when my hair gets extremely dry in winter and summer. It REALLY helps!!!

Once or twice a week:

Massage a dollop of mayonnaise into your hair and leave it on for one hour OR comb olive oil through your hair with a wide tooth comb and leave on all night (shampooing it out in the morning).

Shampoo (choose a shampoo for dry, damaged hair. I use Pantene Pro-V.)

Condition your hair and leave conditioner on for 5 minutes (after I put conditioner on, I pull my hair back with a scrunchie while I wash the rest of my body閳ヮ洑his takes 5 minutes or longer. I also use Pantene Pro-V conditioner).

Towel dry (do not blow dry unless you HAVE to, it will make dry hair even dryer!). Apply a dab of VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing from about the middle of your hair to the tips. Do not apply it to the roots or your hair will look greasy. (It comes in a tube. The box it is packaged in is gold colored).

Style as usual.

For the rest of the week:

Use the VO5 or olive oil (used for cooking) just on the VERY ENDS of your hair閳?every morning before styling.

I had the same problem with my hair. If you try garnier fructis sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner it will really help. It takes a week or so of continuous use but after your hair gets used to it, it works great.

Have a professional determine what type of hair you have oily, normal etc... then use a good product line. Pureology is great. and like most things in life quality of what you put on your hair will show best results.

A couple of ideas for you.

Deep Moisture Treatment. Mix 1 part conditioner, 2 T. aloe vera gel and 2T. honey together and apply to your hair. Put on a shower cap and a towel or turbie. Leave on at least 1/2 hour or as long as you can. Rinse. This is a very moisturizing treatment. And, no the honey will not make your hair sticky.

Deep oil treatment. Use extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil or coconut oil. Saturate your hair in the oil, but don't make it dripping. Pile your hair on top of your head. Put on a shower cap. Put on a heating cap. (Or you could use a towel and a heating pad, just be careful not to burn yourself!) Apply heat for at least an hour. Remove caps. Apply a moisturizing conditioner. Re-cap with shower cap and heating cap. Apply heat for at least an hour longer. Two is better.

Remove caps and jump in the shower, add a little water, massage the oil, conditioner mix, add a little shampoo, wash, rinse. Add a little more shampoo, wash, rinse. Condition, gently comb and rinse again. Your hair should feel much better.
