I got highlights done in my hair about a year and 3 months ago and everytime I blowdry/straighten my hair, the highlighted parts and the ends are so dry and frizzy, its disgusting.
What can I do to fix it? And hydrate those parts?
Help please!
Why is the highlighted part of my hair so dry?
The way streaks/highlights/permanent colors work are they basically suck all of the natural melanin in the core of your hair out, to replace it with whatever color you are putting in/on your hair.
To do this, the outer layer of your hair has to be raised up, and this greatly alters your strands. You lose shine, smoothness, have increased porosity and decreased moisture. And...the thing is, it's hard to get that outer layer to lay BACK down, and this leads to your hair being even more open to more damage from other sources.
Go to the local health food store, get some natural oilextra virgin olive oil and use it as a hot oil in your hair BEFORE you wash it.
Rinse well with a moisturizing shampoo.
Condition, rinse with cool water.
Maintenance: Apply very little to your highlights/hair as needed, especially the ends, between washings.
....and if you are washing every day...pull back no matter how gross you might think that it. It will make the dryness worse and increase the damage to your hair.

Why is the highlighted part of my hair so dry?
Cause when you highlight hair, you use bleach, and bleach postivel FRIES your hair. Get a shampoo and other products that REPAIR your hair (I use SunSilk on my bleached hair), and, if you use it everyday (I don't.) your hair should be fine in about six weeks or so.

Duh....hair color, hair bleach is not good for your hair.
Buy some good professional hair products for hydration.
And don't highlight if your hair can't handle it.
Why is the highlighted part of my hair so dry?
well from my experience of dying and highlighting my hair its all a matter of conditioning. You have to find the conditioner that's right for your hair type and use it maby once or twice a week and leave it in just a tad bit longer, and try not to use a lot of heat whenever possible.
Why is the highlighted part of my hair so dry?
anytime you put any type of blonde in your hair (highlights or anything) it dries out your hair. so when you get your highlights touched up, if your stylest is a good one, she'll only touch up your roots and NOT reapply more bleach to the ends. buy a moisturizing shampoo/conditioner. I use Herbal Essence Hello Hydration. And then spray a leave in conditioner and maybe do some flat ironing, but use something like Herbal essence "Iron me flat" Finishing spray so you don't fry your hair even more!!
Why is the highlighted part of my hair so dry?
Lots of conditioner. And if you ever get hilights again, make darn sure they don't pull it through a cap, it needs to be foiled separately. Pulling stresses the hair, causes breakage, and is just not worth the damage done.
Why is the highlighted part of my hair so dry?
maybe because they had to bleach it . Do A hair mask that will help one for dry hair.
Why is the highlighted part of my hair so dry?
The lightening process strips the hair strands of it's protective, moisture holding layer and makes the hair weak.
Heat also causes damage.
Deep condition your hair everytime you wash it and in time it will repair itself. Try not to use heat as much. Instead of blow drying, let it air dry.
