frizzy when I don't comb it or put any products into it. Even right after I comb it, it frizzes right up! Today it was worse than usual b/c I had not washed it and last night I took a prescribed sleeping pill, which has had a drying effect on my hair before. Why is curly hair like this?
Why does curly hair firzz up and why is it more prone to being dry? My hair is curly naturally and it is so?
- The cuticle in curly hair, because of the spiral, stands out a little bit, which causes the frizz and bushiness. It is also always seraching for moisture, so it goes outward. Yes, us curlies are a little cursed. But the curse can be lifted!
- Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!
- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).
-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sulfates). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.
- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (read more about this at one of the websites) . Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse. Do not brush/comb your hair after this point (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair. Then let your hair air dry or use a blowdryer with a diffuser.
- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Aussie Moist Conditioner. The combo of products that I use daily is Garnier Fuctis Sleek and Shine Leave In Cream, Tressemme Clean Hold Gel, and Aussie Tizz No Frizz Gel, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites.
- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! Hope this helps!

Curly hair are alwez frizzy due to thr increased elasticity. N ya its realy difficult to handle them..
if ur hair are slightly curly then do one thing shampoo them n apply lots of good conditioner to them..then as they dry use some haior softener gently on them. Then take a hair dryer and hold a bunch of hair together and giv them any desired fold as in infoold or outlod..but make sure u take good lot of hair in a single bunch.dry them nicely such that the heat straightens the hair off the previous cuurl and gives them desired shape.dnt comb them after that...just leave them as such.
Or long term treatmnt would be like goin to a good parlour every ten days and getn deep conditiong done to your hairwhich is also called hair spa..u also need to oil ur hair b4 wash once in ten days..
c if this helps...

I have curly hair. I didn't have it until after puberty and then surprise!! i have figured out how to manage it tho and it always looks great. this, of course, is only if you want it to look curly. here are a few tips: first, stop washing it so much! it really dries out the hair, even if you use products designed for curly hair. condition maybe three times a week, shampoo maybe once. in the mornings i usually just let the steam hit my hair, and it gets a little damp and that is it. don't blow dry it and don't comb it! throw away your comb or brush it is useless, will only make your hair frizzier and will damage it. use a conditioning spray, mousse or gel. i recently have been using curl conditioning cream by garnier fructis, and my curls are softer and more defined than ever.
as for straightening, i've been told its all about the product. this from a stylist friend w/curly hair who has the straightest hair ever. ok.

You must go to http://www.ouidad.com. I have been a client there for almost a year and I couldn't be happier. She is known all over the world as The Queen of Curl". This excerpt was taken from her website regarding frizz: "The typical curly hair shaft is either empty or full of gaps where moisture and nutrients have escaped. Humidity fills the strands with moisture, forcing the cuticle to bulge open, creating a ruffled effect from the tiny baby hairs lifting along the hair shaft. The only kind of "good" moisture is the kind that remains self-contained within the hair shaft. ".
Also, you should never, ever brush curly hair and you should only use your comb in the shower to distribute conditioner and to gently detangle. Handle curly hair as little as possible. If you go to her website, you will see how to care for your curls. She sells Climate Control Gel which has been voted "Best DeFrizzer" by Allure magazine and praised by many others.
If you feed your hair (she sells the best deep conditioner in the world), you will find that the hair will have its own weight and not want to frizz up so much.
