I've tried a bunch of different products (some seem to work a little better than others), I've tried sleeping with conditioner in and I've even tried not washing my hair every day, but nothing seems to have a particularly great, lasting effect. I'd prefer not to break the bank trying different expensive products, but if something works well...
Anybody have any good solutions for dry hair (particularly color treated)?
well, color treated = bleaching = bad for your hair in the long run
use conditioner everyday.. no need to sleep with conditioner on.. messy on your pillow
go get a malibu from a nice hair salon.. remove all that stuff from your hair and start all over

I love using a reconstructor on my clients who have dry and damaged hair. I use Joico K-Pak. You use it once a week instead of your regular conditioner. It stays in 5 minutes and rinse it out. I'm sure you will have great results with this product.

Any deep conditioner is good.
Trick is to leave it on your head and wrap your head and hair in Cling Film and then put a plastic shower cap on.
This keeps the heat in and opens the cuticles on your hair to allow penetration of the conditioner. After about 20mins - 1hr (whatwever you want to do) rinse off.
Another option is go for a sauna, and put the conditioner on when you go into the saunaor steam room. Not only does your body get a good cleanse, the heat and conditioner working together work wonders.
I mena, if you went to a salon, that's all they would do. Wrap you hair in cling film and stick you under a steamer for a while.

I use John Frieda Brillant Brunette. They also have products specifically for Blonde and Red Hair.
I use the shampoo and conditinor every day and it really moisturizes and keeps the color looking great too between touch up's (I have highlights).
It's pretty inexpensive--about $5-$6/bottle???

LEAVE IT ON FOR AT LEAST 2 HOURS OVER NIGHT IF POSSIBLE. WHEN YOU RINSE IT RINSE IT WITH FREEZING COLD WATER AND LIMIT WASHING YOUR HAIR TO 2 TIMES A WEEK. wHEN YOUR HAIR IS WET PUT VO5 DETANGELER IN YOUR HAIR ANDUSE TIGI EGO BOOST IN YOUR HAIR.
