Use products that are made for people with dry hair and use moisturizers. Aussie Hair Care has a line for moisture and almost all other popular hair products do also.

Also, please please please do not comb through her hair and treat her hair like it is African American. You should research African American hair care and talk to a specialist.

My daughter is 3 1/2 and has similar hair. I use a silicone based anti-frizz serum on it after washing, the same that I use on my own curly hair, and when I braid it I use one of the more oily products to help with combing and smoothing. But I don't put product on every day. I have read that oil based products don't necessarily help to moisturize the hair all that much. I would make sure you keep the ends trimmed to minimize splits and encourage her to keep it braided if she is willing, which will protect it from tangling and help with control.

I'm not trying to be funny, but a straightening comb and thick oil will do the job.

If I were you, I'd take her to an African-American beautician!
